We enjoyed a lovely relaxing stay in the Lapwing Lodge. A wonderful place to be and Pauline and Phillip were very welcoming. We are very much looking forward to staying again!

Very comfortable with ensuite. The breakfast was incredible. Had a full English also a lovely fruit salad and continental breakfast. Set us up for the whole day. Peter Flower August 2023 Pauline and Phillip were very welcoming. Very comfortable rooms with smart modern bathroom. First rate full English breakfast served in the breakfast room. The house has a very interesting history with lots of books available to browse. A relaxing swim in the 30m pool finished off the day.

The big house is very charm, clean and comfortable with an excellent swimming pool. The english breakfast made by Phillip was so good. They have been such a wonderful hosts and Pauline lessons very useful. Thank you very much for everything. It has been a great experience and I’m very grateful for all your cares. I would highly recommend their home.

There was a large choice of breakfast which included homemade jams and fresh fruit salad.

Tracey January 2022 My recent stay at Ploversfield was a complete pleasure from the moment I arrived to the moment the owners waved me goodbye. I was warmly welcomed by them on arrival, I felt completely at home during my time with them and on leaving felt like I would be happy to return anytime, and actually intend to. Their home is comfortable, spacious and full of all that is needed for a luxury break. The rooms are bespoke, really inviting, bathrooms are modern and clean. There are many lovely touches, chocolates on the tea tray, full range of toiletries, I was even left out a hot water bottle, although the goose down quilt was quite wonderful enough. The breakfast was special, called the All Day Breakfast, there was enough to keep me going all day for sure, with locally sourced meats, fresh fruit and home made preserves. Phillip and Pauline are very interesting and kind people, nothing is too much trouble. Ploverfield is certainly a gem to be experienced, I only wish I could have stayed longer, next time I will be.

Trevor and Nicola September 2021 Ploversfield is a great bed and breakfast and the perfect place when visiting the area. Pauline and Philip are lovely people who are accommodating and attentive hosts. We stayed in the Olivia Newton John room which is spotless, spacious and has a lovely view across the Blackdown hills. We went for a dip in the pool and really enjoyed the sauna. Both facilities are such a treat! We’d highly recommend staying here.

Rachel August 2021 We loved our stay at Pauline and Phillip’s beautiful home. It was conveniently located to explore the lovely local area and also to venture further afield. Our room was lovely and clean and filled with any amenities that we could have needed; including a beautiful en-suite that had been recently renovated. The b&b facilities were also fantastic and we particularly enjoyed the swimming pool and sauna after a long day of exploring the Dorset coast. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful and we could have anything we liked, Pauline and Philip were both very attentive and their lovely dog Poppy was great company. It was lovely to meet them both and they were a fanstastic couple with many interesting stories to tell. We would definitely return in the future and would recommend a stay here.
Jim August 2021 We stayed three nights in Hemyock. The hosts Pauline and Phillip were very welcoming and keen to make our stay comfortable. The room we had was at the back of the house, and was a good size and very quiet so we could leave the windows open at night (which we like). In the early morning the rising sun can be seen from the window too. The bathroom was almost new with an excellent shower. The bed was fine – we certainly slept alright. Breakfast was excellent. We don’t eat a big cooked breakfast, but on all three morning my scrambled egg was perfect and we could have had whatever we wanted really. There is a courtyard where we could eat, and a lovely garden too. As a bonus for this type of accommodation, there is an excellent sauna, and also a lovely indoor pool to sit around in and relax. Lovely for a dip though and to swim a few lengths going back if visiting the area. Even at the beginning of August the local paths are really quiet – so a good place to get away from it all. There is a pub down the road with good, reasonably priced food too. It’s only a short walk – of course you could travel further a field if you wanted.

Ian August 2021 What a great break lovely house and even better host with loads of personal charm. Super breakfast we were offered so much choice to start the day off. Pauline and Phillip were great hosts so welcoming and friendly loved our chats getting to know them made all the difference with our stay. Must recommend the Catherine wheel local pub great food and good price and all in walking distance. We will definitely go back look forward to it.
Megan August 2021 Had the most amazing stay with Pauline. She is the most welcoming host. The room was lovely and clean, the bed was extremely comfortable! Paulines breakfast was AMAZING! Nothing was too much trouble. The swimming pool and sauna is great touch. You’ll have the most relaxing time if you choose to stay here! 5* if we’re ever back in Devon this is where we will be staying! Thanks Pauline!

Nicholas July 2021 We really enjoyed our stay in Hemyock – the room at Ploversfield B n B was clean, comfortable and peaceful with modern ensuite facilities. The setting was beautiful and Pauline and Phillip were welcoming and friendly. Poppy the dog was adorable and friendly. The breakfast was high quality with lots of choice including cooked breakfast and fresh home grown fruit. We even had a dip in the pool and used the sauna which was fantastic. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends and family.
