The Story Behind the Name
Documented musical history
Hank Marvin was the distinctive lead guitarist and a central member of The Shadows. The group became one of Britain’s best-known instrumental bands, both in their own right and as the backing band for Cliff Richard. Their recordings included “Apache”.
Ploversfield’s house history
According to Ploversfield’s own house history, Hank Marvin was a regular visitor to the house. This association is preserved as Ploversfield house history and recollection; individual private visits have not been independently documented here. The room is named in recognition of this connection and forms part of the history and character of our family home.

Your Own Space at Ploversfield
Ploversfield is a large family home set within extensive private grounds, but our guest accommodation occupies its own separate part of the house, giving guests considerable privacy and space in which to relax.
Guests have their own comfortable lounge with a log burner and access to a private courtyard with a table and chairs. We have a separate lounge for our own use, so guests can enjoy their part of the house without sharing our everyday living space.
With only three guest rooms, Ploversfield combines the space and privacy of a substantial country property with the personal welcome of a privately run Bed & Breakfast.
The indoor swimming pool and sauna are normally available during the warmer months. The pool is seasonally heated, and heating and availability vary according to the time of year.
